"I sleep but my heart watches over this house which I have built."     St. Thèodora Guèrin

An ardent longing to invite others to encounter Jesus is the spark that starts the evangelizing mission to which the whole Church is called.  The Church can spare no effort in leading all humanity to Christ because in Chirst all humanity discovers the deepest truths about itself.

 (National Directory for Catechesis, No. 17A)

Evangelization ministries seek to promote and support the efforts of our parishes and schools to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the world by committing to "The New Evangelization - new in ardor, methods and expression" (Pope John Paul II).  This is accomplished with a network of evangelization contacts in our parishes, through extensive communication, through facilitation of parish evangelization teams, through other OCE programs, and by collaboration with other agencies.

Catholic Evangelization has three goals:

  1. to bring about in all Catholics such an enthusiasm for their faith that, in living their faith in Jesus, they freely share it with others;
  2. to invite all people in the Untied States, whatever their social or cultural background, to hear the message of salvation in Jesus Christ so that they may come to join us in the fullness fo the Catholic Faith;
  3. to foster Gospel values in our society, promoting the dignity of the human person, the importance of the family and the common good of our society, so that our nation may continue to be transformed by the saving power of Jesus Christ.
