What is the March for Life Pilgrimage?

The annual March for Life Pilgrimage is a pilgrimage to Washington D.C. to take part in the National Pro-Life March. Held every year around the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, which struck down bans on abortion throughout the country, national pro-life groups from across the country gather for a peaceful march along the National Mall, Capitol Building, and Supreme Court to protect the rights of the unborn.

Who can go?

The March for Life Pilgrimage is open to all high school youth (freshman through seniors) who would like to stand up for the pro-life cause in our nation's capital. Youth must be at least in their freshman year of high school to attend.

Adults age 21 and older are invited to attend as chaperones and group leaders.. Speak to your parish youth minister or your school's campus minister to sign up as a chaperone.

Because this is a pilgrimage trip out of state, we would ask that you register through your parish or school if they are going with the Archdiocesan trip. This helps us make sure we have enough chaperones for the trip. Contact your parish youth minister or school campus minister for more details.

If your parish or school is not going, please contact Youth Ministry in the Office of Catholic Education to be paired up with another parish or group that is going:

When is it?

The March for Life is always on or around the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision in the case of Roe v. Wade. This year, the dates for the March for Life Pilgrimage are Tuesday, January 21, 2014 through Thursday, January 23, 2014.

The March itself is on Wednesday, and we will be leaving D.C. Wednesday evening, following the March. We should be back early in the morning on Thursday morning, January 23, 2014. We want youth to be back in enough time to attend classes at school so as to minimize school absences.

Where is it?

The March for Life is in Washington D.C. and follows a route that takes it down the National Mall and then in between the Capitol Building and the Supreme Court.

Why do we go?

The Catholic Church calls all of us to stand up for and defend the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death. As Catholics, we lend our support to the national pro-life cause in a big way by showing up and bearing witness to the pro-life message to the entire country. According to the teachings of the Church, human life begins at conception and so it is entitled to dignity and value.

Please consider joining us as we go to stand up for the rights of the unborn who cannot yet stand up for themselves.

How much does it cost to attend?

The registration fee for the March for Life is $225.00/person through December 23, 2013*.
Late registrations (December 24, 2013 - January 9, 2014*) will be subject to a $10.00 late fee amounting to a total registration cost of $235.00/person.
The last day to register is Monday, January 9, 2014.

*Please note: In order to meet the above deadlines, registrations must be entered online by the Group Leader by the corresponding dates. Please plan accordingly by getting materials (forms and payment) to the Youth/Campus Minister(s) early!

Attention Group Leaders: For more registration instructions and details regarding deadlines, cancellations and substitutions, please see Registration Information.

How can I register for the March for Life Pilgrimage?

Please contact your parish or school group leader (Youth Minister, DRE, Campus Minister, and/or Volunteer Coordinator) to register.

Once you have the registration forms, please fill them out completely, being sure you have not left any line blank (including e-mail and the signature line for participants and parents/guardians) and return it to the person at your parish or school handling registrations (Group Leader). Do not return it directly to Archdiocesan Youth Ministry - your Group Leader will send us all of the completed forms!

Attention Group Leaders: For more registration instructions and details regarding deadlines, cancellations, and substitutions, please see Registration Information.

If your parish or school is not going, please contact Youth Ministry in the Office of Catholic Education to be paired up with another parish or group that is going.
